Community Project Grants Committee in Action!
Local Impacts
Grants are provided to a wide array of nonprofits serving women and girls, such as: YWCA, Hope Street Recovery House, Walla Walla Public Schools Foundation, Carnegie Picture Lab, The Health Center and BMAC – ESL Literacy Program.
Projects funded represent a terrific cross-section of initiatives and communities served - STEM field trips, mental health training for early learning staff, laptops and software for women’s shelter residents’ use (i.e. financial literacy and job searches), and materials for domestic violence victims- to name a few.
To further expand our community engagement, CPGC has launched a “Collaboration in Action” Program, where AAUW members are notified about opportunities to help our current nonprofit grant recipients via short-term volunteering and/or contributing non-monetary donations.
Mission
The Community Project Grants Committee (CPGC) awards grants annually to local charitable nonprofit organizations. Eligible projects must:
Align with AAUW-WW’s mission - advocating equity, education and opportunities for local women and girls to achieve their full potential
Take place in Walla Walla County or Milton-Freewater, Oregon
Be, or be fiscally sponsored by, a charitable organization under section 501(c)(3).
CPCG will consider all levels of funding requests up to $5,000.
Committee Membership
CPGC is comprised of engaged branch members who bring a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives to our committee! The meetings and the grant cycle process overall is an enjoyable experience with outcomes that make a meaningful difference for women and girls in our community.
