AAUW Book Sale Updates

The 57th Annual AAUW (American Association of University Women) Book Sale will be held February 18-20, 2022, at the Marcus Whitman Hotel, 6 W. Rose St, in Walla Walla. Sale hours will be Friday and Saturday, 9 am – 7 pm; and Sunday, 9 am – 4 pm. Masks are required.

The Book Sale features a huge selection (approximately 40,000) of high-quality paperback and hardback fiction and nonfiction books, children’s books, DVDs, CDs, and audio books, in addition to collectibles. Patrons can find books for their own reading pleasure, as well as gifts, such as coffee table books, cookbooks, golden oldies or the latest best seller.

The books are organized into 40 well-marked categories, including fiction, history, cookbooks, self-help, biographies, military history, western fiction, religion, art, science fiction, local history, sports, animals and many more. Fiction books (except western fiction) have been placed in divisions of the alphabet (AB, CD, etc.) and popular authors are grouped together so that shoppers can easily find their favorite authors.

Prices range from $.50 to $4 for most items (children’s $.50, CDs $1.00, DVDs $2.00, paperbacks $2.50, hardbacks $4.00, audio books $4.00). Collectibles are priced individually. Credit and debit cards will be accepted, in addition to check or cash payments. Children (14 and younger) each receive one free book of their choosing from the picture or chapter book categories. Thanks to generous donations, these two  categories will have an unusually large number of books this year.

The Collectibles area features books on almost every subject. You’ll find signed copies, fine bindings, limited editions, illustrated books and much more. There will be an extensive selection of Northwest and local histories, including a number of hard-to-find titles. Collectible books begin as little as $6.00.

We will have paper bags available for shoppers every day of the sale, but shoppers are
encouraged to bring their own bags on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, when books
are $15 per bag, the paper bags must be used, so that all shoppers’ bags are the same
size. People are free to transfer their books to their own bags on Sunday after they
check out.
