Great Explorations is a super fun Saturday geared toward for 5th-7th grade girls and boys, and is put on by women professionals.
Walla Walla Great Explorations is a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) event that will take place on the Whitman College campus in Walla Walla.
Participants will attend a keynote address followed by three hands-on workshops. The event is open to girls and boys, and the workshop presenters, keynote speaker, and volunteers are all women.
Our goal is to encourage greater student participation in science and math education in their middle and high school years. Ideally, this will open doors to opportunities they might otherwise be unaware of or lacking the enthusiasm and confidence to pursue.
Organized by the nonprofit Great Explorations in Education, and supported by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), this annual event aims to introduce students to women role models in STEAM careers.
